  1. Melanoma with retinal detachment and subretinal bleed. T1 hyperintensity of the lesion with intense enhancement is characteristic. What are other T1 hyperintense structures? Click here for the answer.
  2. Asterion defect in Neurofibromatosis 1 – Cranial defect at the level of the lambdoid suture.
  3. Harlequin eye deformity: Elevation of the superolateral corner of the orbit. It may be seen in unilateral (plagiocephaly) or bilateral (brachycephaly) coronal suture synostosis.
  4. Giant tuberculoma – T2 hypointensity is characteristic.
  5. Incisive canal cysts, also known as nasopalatine duct cysts (NPDC), are developmental, non-neoplastic cysts arising from the degeneration of nasopalatine ducts. These ducts usually regress in fetal life. The persistence of ductal epithelium leads to the formation of a cyst. It is considered the most common non-odontogenic cyst and develops only in the midline anterior maxilla.
  6. Nasal encephaloceles – A form of neural tube defect that causes herniation of cranial content through a bony defect in the anterior skull base into the nasal area.
  7. Meningioma – Homogenously enhancing intradural extramedullary lesion. Imaging of spinal masses
  8. Cortical venous thrombosis with hemorrhage. Check flow void in the T1 image and hemorrhage on SWI images.
  9. Chiari 2 malformation – fenestration of the falx with interdigitated gyri. There may be absent falx/ heart shape incisura, small posterior fossa with a low attachment of the tentorium, and low torcula.
  10. Dyke-Davidoff-Masson syndrome (DDMS) is a condition characterized by hemicerebral atrophy/hypoplasia secondary to brain insult usually in fetal or early childhood period and is accompanied by ipsilateral compensatory osseous hypertrophy and contralateral hemiparesis.
